In late 2021, Wye Valley Brewery introduced an innovative 'Mix and Match' case builder to their online store, enhancing customer choice and flexibility. Recognizing that their diverse range of beers, each with its own distinct flavor profile, might make customers hesitant to commit to an entire case of a single variety, this feature allowed patrons to curate personalized selections.
The 'Mix and Match' page was seamlessly integrated into the existing Ucommerce platform. Beers designated as suitable for the custom case were flagged within the product data, enabling customers to choose any combination of 12 bottles from the available selection. Once their personalized case was assembled, it could be added to the cart as a unique product.
Upon order placement, the in-house team received a detailed breakdown of the quantities of each selected beer, streamlining the picking and dispatch process. Launched just in time for the Christmas rush, following a period of heightened sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 'Mix and Match' feature was an immediate hit with customers, offering them a tailored shopping experience that catered to their individual preferences.
