We collaborated with The Cover Company to develop a comprehensive e-commerce platform using Umbraco and Ucommerce. The Cover Company specializes in importing custom car covers for a wide range of vehicles, including models dating back to 1918. This extensive product catalogue, tailored to specific makes, models, and years, presented unique challenges in terms of organization and user navigation.
Initially, The Cover Company's website required customers to identify and select the appropriate product themselves, often leading to incomplete or incorrect orders. This approach resulted in significant administrative overhead, as the team frequently had to contact customers to confirm details, which, while enhancing the buyer experience, was time-consuming and negatively impacted search engine optimization (SEO) efforts.
Despite offering only five to six different brands, the combination of vehicle compatibility and color variations resulted in thousands of potential product variants. To address this complexity, we designed and built a new website that guides users through the purchasing process. Customers begin by selecting known information, such as the make and year of their car, and are then led through a series of steps to ensure they choose the correct product variant.
We integrated Stripe as the payment gateway, enabling The Cover Company to accept all major credit and debit cards securely. Looking ahead, we planned to enhance the website further by incorporating a number plate lookup feature to automatically retrieve vehicle details, streamlining the ordering process even more.
