In 2015, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Fairoaks, a burgeoning holiday letting enterprise nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Herefordshire. The vision was to craft an online presence that not only showcased the luxurious accommodations but also encapsulated the serene beauty of the 150-acre estate, offering potential guests a virtual glimpse into the tranquil retreat that awaited them.
Understanding the pivotal role of visual storytelling in the hospitality industry, we prioritized the integration of high-quality imagery throughout the website. The Fairoaks estate, with its meticulously restored barns and breathtaking natural surroundings, provided a wealth of photographic opportunities. We organized professional photo sessions to capture the essence of each barn—The Millhouse, The Stables, The Carthouse, and The Piggery—highlighting their unique architectural features and sumptuous interiors. To elevate the visual experience, we incorporated drone photography, presenting aerial views of the estate that reveal the harmonious blend of rustic charm and modern luxury set against the backdrop of the Malvern Hills.
The technical foundation of the website was built on the Umbraco Content Management System (CMS), a robust and flexible platform that empowers the Fairoaks team to manage and update content with ease. This choice ensured that the website could evolve alongside the business, accommodating new offerings and seasonal promotions without necessitating extensive redevelopment. The user interface was designed with intuitive navigation in mind, allowing visitors to effortlessly explore the accommodations, amenities, and local attractions.
A standout feature of the website is the custom-developed booking engine integrated into the backend. Recognizing the importance of a seamless reservation process, we designed a system that provides real-time availability, secure payment processing, and automated confirmation emails. This functionality not only enhances the user experience by simplifying the booking process but also streamlines administrative tasks for the Fairoaks team, allowing them to focus more on guest satisfaction.
Beyond the technical and visual elements, the website serves as a comprehensive resource for potential guests. Detailed descriptions of each barn are complemented by information on on-site amenities, such as the large luxury indoor swimming pool that offers charming views across the escarpment. Additionally, we included sections highlighting local attractions and activities, from exploring the nearby town of Ledbury to embarking on outdoor adventures in the Malvern Hills, thereby positioning Fairoaks as not just a place to stay but a gateway to enriching experiences.
