In mid-2017, we expanded our collaboration with the Vancouver Hotel Destination Association (VHDA) by launching beedmonton.com, a platform aimed at promoting tourism in Edmonton. Utilizing the flexibility of the Umbraco Content Management System (CMS), we efficiently hosted multiple unique sites from a single Umbraco instance, allowing us to repurpose existing technology while delivering a distinct user experience for Edmonton.
By utilizing Umbraco's multisite capabilities, we maintained separate root nodes for each site within the same installation, enabling independent management of content and design for BeEdmonton.com. This approach facilitated a rapid turnaround, as we could build upon the established integrations with Mobius, a custom booking platform, and Bunchball, a gamification platform, to provide users with an engaging and seamless experience tailored to Edmonton's offerings.
The new site featured its own suite of hotels and a refreshed design that captured the unique appeal of Edmonton. This efficient development process not only ensured consistency across the VHDA's digital initiatives but also allowed for timely updates and maintenance, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the campaign to boost tourism in the region.
