In 2017, we embarked on a comprehensive overhaul of the Bed and Breakfasts Guide platform to enhance its flexibility, control, and user experience. Recognizing the value of offering a diverse range of accommodations, we integrated additional property providers into the platform, notably cottages.com and Hoseasons. This integration significantly expanded the inventory, providing users with a broader selection of lodging options. To manage this increased volume effectively, we developed a sophisticated property synchronization engine. This system ensured that the latest property data was consistently reflected on the site, maintaining accuracy in listings and availability.
Understanding the importance of visibility for property owners, we introduced features to distinguish Bed and Breakfasts Guide's specific properties, particularly those opting for elevated listings. This included the incorporation of featured properties on listing pages and the development of dedicated detail pages enriched with comprehensive information. These enhancements provided premium listings with greater exposure, thereby increasing engagement and booking potential.
Additionally, we augmented the platform's flexibility by enabling the creation of new topic-based searches. The team could now effortlessly generate searches centered around specific points of interest, such as stadiums and airports, directly through the CMS. This functionality allowed for targeted marketing and improved user navigation, catering to niche audiences seeking accommodations near particular landmarks or events.
